Parent Information
Communication
Our newsletters and associated documents are sent via email each Thursday to contact 1 and 2 on our system. Paper copies of all letters are available at the school office by request.
Our newsletter contains information on events and achievements in school and key dates for the diary.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school office if you require any clarification on points raised in the newsletters.
Lunch Time Menu
We pride ourselves in supplying our children with excellent food. We feel that it is one of the most important parts of a child’s life – to eat properly.
Eating a healthy diet enables a child to live life to the full and gives them a better performance all round, specifically helping with their concentration levels – which in turn affects achievement.
We encourage all of our children to have a school meal and we are glad to have such a high uptake of school dinners at our school. It is reassuring to know that our children are getting a well balanced and healthy meal.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school office if you require any clarification on points raised in the newsletters.
Our School Day
Morning session
8:50 – 12.00 -The School gates will be open from 8:45am – 8.55am
Anyone arriving after this time should enter through the school office.
Afternoon session
13:00 – 15:20
The classes organise their own timetables throughout the day. Maths and English (including phonics) are usually taught during the morning. Children are exposed to all areas of the curriculum. Where required, intervention support will be provided to enable children to reach their full potential.
Children attend assemblies towards the end of the school day. Once each week, the children have a class book club session where they have the opportunity to discuss their favourite books, look at new books and find a love of reading.
As a school, we are focusing on developing a love of reading and reading for pleasure. The children have regular opportunities to read and to listen to adults read to them. This is important to provide our children with a language rich environment.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school office if you require any clarification on points raised in the newsletters.
Uniform
It is important to turn up to school feeling that you belong and looking ready to learn. Our school uniform does exactly that. It makes our children look smart and provides an identity as a member of our school community. A paper copy of our uniform policy is available from the school office.
Children should bring a warm coat during the winter months for outdoor play and wellington boots if desired. During the summer months a waterproof jacket is needed as the British weather is unpredictable!
Our branded uniform is available from The School Uniform Shop:
28 Pasture Road, Goole, DN14 6EZ, 01405 763071 theschooluniformshop.co.uk
School Streets
School Streets is a pioneering approach to improving the environment outside schools whereby traffic is restricted at the start and the end of the school day.
By encouraging parents and carers to ‘park and stride’ – parking away from the school and then walking or cycling the rest of the way – this helps to reduce congestion, discourage unnecessary car journeys and improve the air quality outside the school gates.
The introduction of School Streets is aimed at encouraging a move towards more sustainable and active modes of travel, making it easier and safer for pupils to walk or cycle to school, and creating a more pleasant environment in those areas.
School Streets could also help parents and pupils to socially distance during the coronavirus pandemic, by creating additional space for them to travel safely to and from school on foot, by scooter or bike.
The council continues to work in partnership with our school and introduced the pilot scheme at the beginning of November 2020.
Please park considerately when dropping off and collecting children at school. No cars (unless they have a permit) will be able to enter Percy Drive during the morning and afternoon periods (see local signage). We continue to work with the villagers and local parish council to ensure that everyone parks safely and people are happy.
Online Learning Resources
At Airmyn Park Primary School we promote the use of the Doodle Learning Apps to encourage work out of the classroom.
All children have access to Doodle Maths
Children in Y1-Y6 have access to Doodle English
Children in Y3-Y6 have access to Doodle Tables
The children are encouraged to do little and often with these online apps. Successes are celebrated in our weekly Celebration Assembly.
Information on parent support or how to get started can be found below. Class teachers will always be happy to discuss Doodle with parents.
